I wrote my rough draft essay the way I did because I write whatever pops in my head. I think this is why some of my essays don’t have a good flow. It can sometimes be hard to connect things while I am writing. I usually get a whole bunch of thoughts in my head and I write them down. I usually don’t consider what affect it will have on the paper I am writing. I think I do this because I knew that it was only a rough draft. I chose not to correct everything and make the essay flow better because I know that I will have another chance to write it and approve it because it is just a rough draft.
Another thing that affects my writing is the fact that I know other people will be reading it. I hate when other people have to read my writing. I think that is why I didn’t put a lot of my opinion in my paper. I didn’t do it on purpose. It is just hard for me to write what I think or feel; just so 20 people that I don’t know will read them. This bothers me because I usually don’t express my feelings and now everyone is going to be reading what I think. So peer editing online is pretty much the same for me, I don’t like it but I know that in the long run it helps my writing. But I didn’t like that I was able to read other peoples blogs.
The notes and class discussions helped me write my essays. One thing that I liked about blogging is that I was able to read what everyone else wrote. This helped me expand on my ideas and made is a little easier to write my essay.
One of the main focuses of my essay was human factor. I think that human factor is something that should be considered while technology is being made because all people are different and it should just be assumed that everyone is the same and they will be able to just use the new device with no problems. Another thing I focused on was how people will never be content with what they have. There will always be something bigger and better.

Paper #1
Both “The Human Factor” and Cat’s Cradle show that technology can cause a lot of disaster and tragedy in the world. Technology is very helpful and it makes so many things in life a lot easier to do. But it can be a bad thing at times as well. The human factor should be considered while new technology is being made because if a person cannot figure out how to use technology, then that device is not going to be helpful even if it is capable of doing so much.
The plan for the Chrenobyl catastrophe failed because they left an untrained worker to deal with the equipment (9). Something can be planned out and seem flawless but if the person running it does not know how to properly use the equipment, it’s not going to work. This also shows that carelessness is a cause for things that go wrong with technology.
In Cat’s Cradle, ice nine was the invention created by Dr. Felix Hoenikker. It seemed that Hoenikker wanted to create ice-nine just to prove that he could do it (50). He wanted to be known for his scientific accomplishments and that ice nine could be used as a gift to mankind, but Hoenikker did not reveal this invention to anyone but his children(50). He probably knew the danger that is could cause but he did not warn his children. He left it up to them to decide what would happen with the ice-nine that was created. Hoenikker’s invention ended up being the cause of death for most things on earth.
Both Vonnegut and Vincete show that we will never be content with what we have. In Cat’s cradle the characters were searching for happiness. In the Human Factor, Vincente states that technology is something that is used to make life easier, such as a work schedule (24). Yet technology has become so advanced and high tech, that someday most people won’t even be able to understand how to use it.
Both readings show that technology can get so out of hand that eventually, it could destroy the world. But technology wouldn’t be at fault for the tragedy. Someone has to come up with ideas and follower through with the ideas in order for technology to be created.

Cat's Cradle
The quote that I chose from the novel, Cat’s Cradle is “Science has now known sin”(17). The narrator is referring to the atomic bomb. He was still shocked that America can wipe out a whole city with just one bomb (17). Science has caused sin because it is hard to believe that one thing can cause so much pain and disaster.
I somewhat agree with this quote. Technology is very helpful and it makes so many thing in life a lot easier to do. But it can be a bad thing at times as well. Nowadays people have come so dependant on using technology. It is just as bad as it is good. People calling and texting while driving is very dangerous, yet so many people do it because it is so much more convenient to just pick up your phone and write a message. Using cells phones while driving isn’t as bad as a bomb that killed so many people, but it is still wrong for people to do because they are not only putting themselves in danger they are also putting every other person that is on the road in danger. Another thing that is bad about technology is that it has reduced face to face conversations. People used to have to call each other on the phone or have more conversations face to face. Now texting, emailing, IMing, etc. has replaced that. I can’t say that I’m against texting or anything like that because I text so much. But I think it’s sad that people have come so dependant on it. I think that people text and email so much because it is a lot easier to write a message rather than talking to a person.
Cat’s Cradle shows that a humans ideas for technology and the use of that technology can cause a lot of harm and may one day destroy the world. By the end of the novel ice- nine was the cause of death for almost every living thing on earth. I think carelessness is a cause for things that go wrong with technology. There are so many technological advances but if people never learn how to use these high tech gadgets, how is it even worth the time and money spent making new things? Human factor needs to be put into play when new technology is being made because if people can’t figure it out then it’s not going to help at all, even if the technology has the capability to do so much. Science can’t be completely blamed for sin because it’s scientists that come up with the ideas to invent something new, science just made is possible. If that human factor didn’t exist then there would not be sin in science because it was a humans ideas that made the atomic bomb and other things happen. When people are coming up with something new, why don’t they think of the consequences more and focus on the outcome more? Yes, technology is very helpful but there is a bad side to it too.
